Honours Listing

The search function allows you to find various Honours curricula. Choose the advanced search option to look for Honours curricular specific to a particular discipline, university or type of Honours program.

Stand alone Honours year with specific application as point of entry to particular higher degree. May be admitted with three year Bachelor degree or equivalent from another institution. This Honours program often comes with scholarship incentives and guaranteed entry to PhD places and scholarships.

A four year language specialisation including one year abroad in language immersion - may recieve an Honours grading for that degree, e.g. bachelor of Asian studies specialisation Chinese Honours. This Honours type adheres to the "Trophy night" model: post-hoc grading of existing subjects done by all students.

Extra Honours components included in the time frame of the degree - e.g. thesis and research methodology. This type of Honours requires high level marks throughout the course, advanced coursework and a substantial research project in the fourth year.

One Honours end-on year taken within two Honours programs, disciplinary mix and supervision negotiated.

Honours grading in a fourth specialist year which can be taken at both pass and Honours level. Involves 36 units of highly individual program study, plus a 12 unit research project.

Undergraduate degree by research - four years.

Assessment   Multi-campus course   48 point research project (2/3 of Honours is research)   1/3 focuses on subject courses (2 subjects) Compulsory - skills to review literature and writing literature component Content specific – range of subjects e.g. stats training, or focus on undergraduate weakness if supervision to do that, or focus on subject related to research component.  

Assessment Thesis: 50% of total mark. 10 000 words. If greater than 15% discrpancy in marks a third examiner is used. Research methods and course work: 50% of total mark. Course work subjects: 16 points. Geared toward research project.  

Assessment Thesis: 15 000 words. Assessed by two internal examiners (usually includes supervisor). A third examiner is used if any discrepancy occurs. Research training program: Reading subject: 1 year. A program of directed reading in a field typically related to thesis. Theory subject: 1 year Method subject: 1 year Prerequisite Major in history with credit average or better in second and third year subjects.
